Today she asked me: "What are your 3 favorite cars of all time?"
I've been thinking about it for a while, and I haven't come close to refining down to a top 3. I can get down to top 20, 15, maybe even 10 fairly easily. I just keep going back and forth with a bunch of cars fighting to be in the top.
If the question were something like "What is your favorite car you've ever OWNED?" I could answer that. Even "What is your top 3 list under $100,000 from the current new car market?" But not top 3 ALL TIME. That's just not fair.
So what say you oppo? Can you come up with a top 3 of all time list?
Edit: Have an E30 M3 for your time.

Wow, that's a smart woman. While you think about it, you haven't bothered her at all...

Impossible. But she is a wise woman. While you ponder deep thoughts, she went shopping.

Ferrari Testarossa
(Early Model) Acura NSX
E90 M3
I'm gunna kick myself for choosing the M3 but screw it's my list.

Yeah it's impossible unless it gets narrowed down. It's like comparing professional athletes from different eras. The average MLB player today may be 10 times more athletic and capable than Babe Ruth was, but that doesn't make them better.
It would get even harder if it wasn't a theoretical question. Imagine if someone gave you a ton of cash to spend on exactly 3 cars. You'd have to grapple with the choice of buying the new and capable cars or buying restored classics that were slower but had more character.

1971 Miura SV - I could stare at this thing for days and smile
2005-2006 Ford GT - Preferably twin turbo :)
Thennnn...... uummmm....well crap...
I'll go with a 1969 Boss 429 semi-hemi. I would resto-mod it with probably 700 hp and lay it on the ground

I'd kick you for the Testarossa before the M3, but I may be biased.
Completely on board with the NSX, though.

Major challenge.
GT40?
959?
F40?
McLaren F1?
Already, one of the above can't be on the list...

My top three would be:
1)1971 Skyline 2000gt hakosuka
2) Jaguar E-Type
3) 1965 Lincoln Continental
Really hard to break it down but that's my top 3... could easily do a top 5, 10, 20 but these are what would make my list. Should have asked her what kind of cars. Might have broken it down a little. ie. Top 3 sports cars, top 3 imports, top 3 muscle cars, top 3 exotics, etc.
Man, Jalopnik needs to bring back the Q&A of the day posts...I miss them.

I'm trying to think of cars I've loved my whole life...
'69 Camaro SS/Yenko's
R32 or 34 GTR
Ferrari F40
I had at least one of these posted on my wall at some point in life until i got married. My office has an old Pirelli ad with the F40 on it. One of the classiest ads I've ever seen.

In the small world that is Spdwagen:
1959 Morris Mini-Minor 621 AOK
Lotus Elite
Those two are the only "for certain" favorite cars. The remaining is the one I haven't heard of yet. For me, the allure of the car hobby is finding things I did not know existed.

Here are mine. I have been lucky enough to see all three and even been part of the restoration of the first GT350R. Also, I have an obsession with track-prepped 289s if you can't tell.Ever have the feeling you were born two decades late?
'66 GT40 MKI
'65 GT350R
'65 FIA Cobra

Actually, all three are very nice. Thanks
